Restoring the MAC address on a Spider
My Spider has lost it's MAC address. How can I restore it?
The MAC address is also sometimes called the Hardware or Ethernet address. To restore the MAC address on a Spider:
- Find the Spider's MAC address on the sticker on the bottom. Here's an example of what the sticker looks like:
- Log into the Spider's serial console port as detailed in the INSTALLATION AND NETWORK SETTINGS section of the Quick Start Guide at http://www.lantronix.com/pdf/Spider_QS.pdf
- At the login prompt type the command CHANGEMAC. Example:
- Welcome!
Choose a command for the following features:
-Initial IP configuration: "config".
-Reset device: "reset".
[172.18.11.20 spider]> CHANGEMAC
MAC ADDRESS [00:00:00:00:00:00]:00:80:A3:80:8C:04
CONFIGURING DEVICE ...
- Wait for the login prompt to be re-displayed. Your MAC address is now restored.
