How do I change the MAC address, model number and company name of an MSS100?

Connect a terminal to the serial port on the MSS100 and disconnect the network cable.

Apply power to the MSS100. If prompted to hit a key for the Boot> prompt, press Enter

At the Boot> prompt type:

Boot> CHANGE SPECIAL PRODUCT MSS100
Boot> CHANGE SPECIAL COMPANY Lantronix

To change the hardware address:

Boot> SET HARD XX-XX-XX

where XX-XX-XX is the last 6 characters of the Ethernet address on the serial number sticker.

The hardware address (also called MAC or Ethernet address), company and product strings can be lost if the MSS100 loses power while it's booting up. When applying power to an MSS100 it is a very good idea to let it boot all the way up before removing power.

Boot times vary between about 30 seconds and 1 minute. The MSS100 has finished booting when it's OK LED starts flashing yellow-green about once every two seconds, with short, intermittent flashes of other colors indicating network traffiic.
