Configuring a UDS using HyperTerminal or other Terminal Emulator

How do I assign an IP to a UDS product using the serial connection from a PC running HyperTerminal?

  1. Use a standard modem cable (straight through) connected from your pc's DB9 port to the DB25 port on the UDS.
  2. Configure a HyperTerminal, TeraTerm or PuTTY serial session for the Com port you connected the cable to for 9600bps, 8 bit characters, No parity and 1 stop bit. Make sure the HyperTerminal window is the active window on your screen
  3. Power down the UDS/Cobox and power the unit up holding the x key down on the PC's keyboard
  4. When the "Press Enter to go into Setup Mode" prompt appears, Press enter within 5 seconds and the following will appear:

    MAC address 00204A9B007D

    Press Enter for Setup Mode

  5. Type '0' at the "Your Choice" prompt and enter the correct IP address, and other network configuration information.
  6. For assistance on subnet mask, please refer to the manual located at use the table below.
  7. Choose option 9 to Save and exit to keep the new configuration.
  8. NOTE: If you make a mistake, hit Enter until you get back to the menu, choose 0 and retype the correct information.
