Assigning an IP address with Device Installer to a Evolution product.
I am having trouble with Device installer finding my EDS1100? What am I doing wrong?
1. Hook up to the EDS4100 ethernet connection direct to a PC.
Please, set the PC to obtain and IP address automatically (After a few minutes the PC will fall into 169.254.x.x (Last two octets are random.)
2. Open device installer.
3. Check when device installer is open that the Local Area Connection in the left hand window pane is using a 169.254.x.x IP address range.
4. Do a search. If the unit has never been setup it should show up with a 169.254 IP as well and be reachable.
5. Click on the EDS in the left hand window to open the right hand window pane showing the EDS16PR
6. Double click on the EDS in that window to bring up tabs at the top of the right window with Web configuration and telnet configuration options.
7. Click on Web Configuration tab and then click the green square with the white arrow, (Go button,)
8. When prompted with a username and password prompt use the following:
Username: admin
Password: PASS
9. At this point if the unit's web manager shows then configuration will be semi easy.
10. Click on Network in the Orange options to the left.
11. In the center window in Gray click configuration.
12. First click off DHCP Client
13. Put the IP address in the field to the right of IP address
Note: The subnet goes here as well.
192.168.1.1 (default mask)
192.168.1.1/24 (CIDR)
192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0 (explicit mask)
14. Fill in Gateway address
15. The Hostname, Domain, and DNS is not required, (If you have those then go ahead and program.)
16. Click submit at the bottom.
17. Click on System in the left side menu in Orange.
18. Click on reboot for the network changes to take place.
Note: DI needs to be in the same IP range so if you assign the IP or subnet in a different range you will need to change the PC to match the range and subnet to see it show in the list.
