Cobox, UDS10, UDSx00, SDSx100, XPort, XPort Direct, WiBox, xDirect, xPico or WiPort - Packing Algorithms

How does a CoBox, UDS-10, UDSx00, SDSx100, XPort, XPort Direct, WiBox, xDirect, xPico or WiPort package incoming serial data into ethernet packets?

There are 2 packing algorithms for ethernet packets, the standard packing algorithm and a configurable alternate packing algorithm.

For most applications the standard packing algorithm works well so there is no need to use the alternate packing algorithm. Unless there is some reason to change the behavior of the device server, use the default values for the following parameters, listed with their default value in parentheses:

DisConnMode (00)
FlushMode (00)
DisConnTime (00:00)
SendChar 1 (00)
SendChar 2 (00)

This setup uses the standard packing algorithm. The standard algorithm gives very small delays for single characters while trying to keep the packet count low.

The alternate packing algorithm can be configured a number of ways to send packets after a configurable period of idle time or after receiving one or two definable "trailing characters". Configuration of these parameters is highly dependent on your application.
