PremierWave XN - Access to the unit to configure the WLAN

I cannot find the PremierWave XN unit via my wireless connection.  How can I configure this for my wireless network?  The manual does not show how to program the PremierWave from the serial port.

By default the PremiereWave XN is configured for wireless ad-hoc communications.

See Step 2 - 'Quick Connect' in the quick start guide at: PremierWave Quickstart Manual for information on setting up an Ad-hoc connection to the device.

An easier alternative for setup is to connect to the PremierWave XN serially, disable the wireless connection, enable the Ethernet connection then reboot the PremiereWave unit.  This will allow you to connect the PremiereWave via wired Ethernet to the network; or with a crossover cable directly to your PC. You can then browse to the IP address to get to the webmanager  to setup your wireless connection.

Directions for how to get into the PremierWave XN serially to enable the Ethernet connection

Use a null modem DB9 female to a DB9 female cable connected to your PC and port 1 of the PremiereWave XN device.

Using a terminal emulation program like Putty or Tera Term, set the serial parameters for the serial communication to:

9600 baud
8 bit characters or data size
No parity
One stop bit ( 8-n-1).

Set flow control to 'none'.

Power cycle the PremierWave XN unit.

As it is powering up, hold down (shift+1), aka !

After about 15-20 seconds you will see a ! (exclaimation point) show up on screen.

Type xyz enter within 5 seconds to get to the > prompt.

ip address  xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cidr

(Where the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the static ip and the /cidr is netmask.)

default gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx         where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the gateway address.
dhcp disable
bootp disable
state enable

This will take you back to <config>#

9.     At the <config> type       exit

This will take you back to <enable>#

10.     At the <enable> type      reload
11.     Answer with a        yes

This will reboot the unit.  Now the wireless interface is disabled and the wired Ethernet is available.

Connect the Premierwave XN unit to the network via wired Ethernet, or via crossover Ethernet cable directly to your PC.

Open a web browser from a computer and reach the unit by typing the IP address into the URL line of the browser.
