How to flash a new firmware version on the tracking devices FOX3 and BOLERO40 series via a terminal SW?

  • Open a terminal SW like HyperTerminal , PComm Terminal Emulator or TeraTerm.

  • Connect the FOX3 to the terminal and set the baud rate of the terminal SW accordingly (default 115200 baud).

  • Turn on the FOX3 and immediately hit <enter> to enter the FBoot (Fig. 1)

  • To get more information on the commands for the FBoot, you can type Help<enter> to list all commands (Fig. 2).

  • Type fwrite then hit <enter>

  • Send the FW with the extension .txt as ASCII (example avl_3.0.0_rc20_20170322.txt) (Fig. 3)

  • When the serial transmission is ended, a new window opens telling that the transmission of the file was OK (Fig. 5)

  • Hit OK then type “Reset<enter>” to restart the device. The FOX3 will restart and load the new FW.

  • NOTE: The existing Configuration will be kept available.
