WLAN dongle for the FOX3 series

WLAN dongle (IOBOX-WLAN) is available for FOX3 series

In addition to the standard wide area 2G, 3G and 4G communication technologies, wireless local area networking (WLAN) technology is playing an essential role in supporting mobile data applications. As we continuously optimize and expand our product portfolio and services for vehicle telematics and the automotive industry, we are pleased to inform you about the availability of the new accessory product IOBOX-WLAN. IOBOX-WLAN is a 2.4GHz WLAN high-quality accessory for FOX3-3G/-4G Series that connects to a WLAN access point and delivers real-time data over WLAN to your remote server. The WLAN works independently from the cellular network. The AVL firmware offers, by means of the PFAL commands, the possibility to configure the WLAN as the primary communication interface and cellular as an automated fallback if there is no WLAN connection available. The IOBOX-WLAN can be used within pre-defined areas such as airports, factory premises or other areas with continuous WLAN coverage. The device is capable of supporting up to 5 different WLAN network profiles useful to extend the coverage area and roaming between coverage of WLAN access points. To communicate with your remote server over WLAN, the following hardware is needed:
  • WLAN access point (e.g. WLAN router at your facility)
  • IOBOX-WLAN
  • WLAN external antenna (Product code: 60259, ANT-15
  • FOX3-3G/-4G series with firmware 3.0.0 or higher
  • Installation and power supply cable (Product code: 60036, CA68) for FOX3 series device
  • Connection cable (Product code: 60347, CA38b) for using the I/Os on the IOBOX-WLAN (if required)
In addition to the WLAN functionality, the IOBOX-WLAN offers the same functions of the IOBOX-CAN such as several programmable inputs and outputs for almost every application within the automobile industry, a second CAN interface and a D8 interface.
