SLC displays DHCP errors when receiving an IP address from a Sun server
SLC displays DHCP errors when receiving an IP address from a Sun server
When I boot my SLC I get errors like this in the system log: Apr 4 12:46:20 wsb2d01 rmclomv: DHCP negotiation failed, perhaps misconfigured or no DHCP server available SC Alert: DHCP negotiation failed, perhaps misconfigured or no DHCP server available. What might cause this?
If your DHCP server is running on a Sun Solaris server this problem may be caused by an ALOM setting on the Sun, i.e. Advanced Lights Out Management parameter 'netsc_dhcp' may be set to 'true'.
To resolve this problem, at the ALOM prompt type:
sc> setsc netsc_dhcp false
then reset the sc with the ALOM command:
sc> resetsc
For more information on ALOM please contact Oracle support.
