The first step for the firmware upgrade from 4.1.0.2 firmware (1.0.0.0 for the EDSxPSs) to the latest release must be done from the Evolution web manager.

This required intermediate step is defined below. It loads the new 5.0.0.0 boot loader prior to the firmware.

If this process is NOT FOLLOWED the unit will be unreachable on the network and you will need to recover back to 4.1.0.2 (or 1.0.0.0 on EDSxPSs) by using the device installer serial recovery method.

Procedure:

  1. Open the Evolution Web manager either via device installer's web configuration, or by opening a browser and typing in the IP address of the EDS.
  2. Log into the unit via the user name and password prompt. The default user name is admin and the default password is PASS.
  3. From the orange menu options on the left, select System
  4. In the Upload New Firmware section:
    1. select browse and find the file edsxxboot_5_0_0_0.romz (downloaded from the link above). The xx represents the model of EDS you are upgrading.
    2. click upload.
  5. The EDS will automatically load the file and reboot
  6. Re-open the web manager and repeat steps 3 and 4 with the latest firmware romz file.
  7. The EDS will again reboot and be running the latest version when it completes the boot process.
