XPrintServer – ‘No AirPrint Printers’ Found Message on iOS device when using a Verizon-Frontier FIOS Actiontec Router.

Is it possible to configure my Actiontec router so I can see printers from my iOS device when printing through the xPrintServer?

Most Access Points/Routers need multicast or UPnP enabled, and/or IGMP Proxy disabled, to work with the XPrintServer. Actiontec routers, commonly used with Verizon FIOS, sometimes do not have these settings accessible for configuration by the customer.

The solution for the "No Air print printers found" message when using Verizon FIOS Actiontec is outside the control of any xPrintServer configuration settings. Resolving this issue requires more of a work-around than a direct solution at this point. Lantronix suggests the following steps:

  • Click on the link below to open an article that explain how to test if the xPrintServer is broadcasting printers.
Testing for xPrintServer Bonjour Printer Advertisement
  • If the xPrintServer is advertising printers, but your iOS devices can't see them, try this procedure. It has worked for at least one Verizon FIOS customer.

    • Log into the router, go to the Advanced tab Answer yes for "Do you want to proceed?"

    • On the Advanced Screen select the IGMP Proxy Link.

    • On the IGMP Proxy Page, DISABLE the IGMP Proxy.

  • If the procedure above does not work, please contact Verizon FIOS technical support for assistance. The Verizon router is sometimes locked down to prevent customer access.

Verizon technical support has a management channel providing them backdoor access to the Verizon FIOS router and might be able to help you configure your router for you.

The phone number to Verizon FIOS tech support is: 1-800-837-4966 or through the customer support pages on http://verizon.com. Please call Verizon first.

If Verizon can't help you for some reason, some of our customers have reported that they have had good luck contacting Actiontec directly:

  • Another option is to purchase a third party router that is known to support the Airprint protocol. If you are unsure if a certain router is Airprint compatible, check with the router manufacturer.

This router can be added in addition to your Actiontech router. (Note: The new router should be used as your Wi-Fi connection for your iOS device.)
