Are there different types of antenna I can use with my Lantronix wireless device server?

Recommended Antennas for Lantronix wireless device servers:

A wide variety of 802.11b antennas are commercially available through numerous vendors. Virtually any of these antennas will function with the Lantronix wireless device server so long as the mating conductor is a 50 ohm RP-SMA adapter. Each antenna has different performance characteristics, so when choosing an antenna, please carefully consider your site requirements.

Note: Local telecommunication regulations differ. It is the responsibility of the user to confirm that their antenna selection does not violate local regulations.

At this time the Wanshih WSS003 and WSS002 and the US Robotics USR5481 are acceptable for use in the United States. Use of other antennas, especially those with higher gain, may require that you perform a system level certification with the FCC. For more information see these FCC documents:

Lantronix has verified that the following antennas will function with Lantronix wireless device servers:

The connector on the end of the pigtail on the WiPort is a reverse SMA connector.

NOTE: Lantronix wireless device server FCC certification was achieved using the Wanshih Electric Co. Ltd (Taiwan) model WSS-003 antenna.
